Powering Progress: 70kW Waste-to-Energy CHP System Signed Off by SSE

A 70kW Combined Heat and Power (CHP) unit turning agricultural waste into reliable, grid-compliant electricity and heat — fully signed off by SSE.
Overview
In a major step forward for sustainable energy innovation, our team recently completed a successful test and commissioning of a 70kW Combined Heat and Power (CHP) unit — a cutting-edge system designed to generate clean electricity and heat entirely from agricultural waste. This project showcases how advanced renewable technology can turn everyday farm by-products into reliable, eco-friendly energy solutions.
About the Project
The newly installed CHP system operates using waste cow muck as its primary fuel source, demonstrating the enormous potential of waste-to-energy systems in reducing carbon emissions and maximizing resource efficiency. Imported directly from Belgium, this unit represents some of the most advanced engineering in renewable power generation currently available in Europe.
The testing phase was carried out meticulously, ensuring every performance and safety standard was met. The results exceeded expectations — the system achieved a consistent 70kW output, proving both its reliability and efficiency in converting waste materials into usable energy.
Partnership and Collaboration
This project was made possible through close collaboration between our engineering team, the DNO SSE, and our partners in Belgium. During the testing process, the SSE representatives officially signed off on the installation after confirming full compliance with all grid and safety standards.
“Thanks Dave for today — I could not have hoped for the testing to have gone any better. We have several other systems going in next year, and we want you to test those as well.”

Results and Impact
The 70kW CHP unit is a clear example of how innovation and sustainability can work together. By transforming agricultural waste into renewable power, this project not only supports energy independence but also contributes to a cleaner, greener future for rural industries.
Project highlights
- 70kW continuous energy output from organic waste
- Full DNO SSE approval after comprehensive testing
- Reduced carbon footprint and sustainable waste management
- Strong international collaboration with Belgian technology experts
Looking Ahead
Following the success of this installation, several additional CHP systems are already scheduled for deployment next year. Each will continue to build on this milestone, expanding renewable infrastructure and supporting the transition to sustainable power solutions across the UK and Europe.
